50 years of Euregio Meuse-Rhine: 270 guests congratulated us in Alden Biesen!

Tamara Koenen Communication Manager

On October 27, 2026, about 270 guests came to the Lancommanderij Alden Biesen in the Belgian province of Limburg to celebrate with us.

On the agenda? A brief look back at the past 50 years, a view on today’s cross-border cooperation and the keynote by Ute Schürings followed by testimonies from our closest partners, and a look at the future with the speech by Guy Vekemans from Energyville and a word about the Einstein Telescope. The presenter Greet Samyn hosted the evening with great charm and, of course, as is tradition for events of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine, in three languages!

A panel and speeches by our president Jos Lantmeeters, governor of the Belgian province of Limburg, as well as by our director Michael Dejozé completed the afternoon program.

We also thank Jos Lantmeeters and Tom Vandeput, Emile Roemer and Elianne Demollin-Schneiders, Ralf Nolten and Gregor Lange, André Denis and Nadia Loukia, as well as Jérôme Franssen and Oliver Paasch – members of the Board and/or the Assembly of the EGTC Euregio Meuse-Rhine – for their wishes!

Thank you all for coming, we had an excellent afternoon with you and we look forward to starting the next 50 years of cross-border cooperation with you starting today!
